We just love Alexandria, and are members of the local community group, the Alexandria Residents’ Action Group.
We love Alexandria – but we’ve had a lot of issues impacting us: from the Ashmore Estate development proposal; the re-development of the Alexandria Hotel – though as a community, we DID manage to save it, but we’re awaiting plans for refurbishment and re-opening; the loss of and redevelopment of Studios 301; the sale of Australian Technology Park to Mirvac and Commonwealth Bank, and the additional 10,000 workers PER DAY that come in to our area and use the already-overcrowded Redfern Station; the Central-to-Eveleigh urban renewal project; local council amalgamations; …
Oh, and the joke of a road project that is westCONnex!!
It’s taking a lot of effort by our community to stay on top of these issues.
We’re not NIMBYs or anti-development – we just want good quality, considered development that aligns with the delivery of the infrastructure (public transport, schools, childcare, medical services, open space, …) that can appropriately support such development.
